Nel Clarke, MBACP
You don’t have to navigate things alone. I aim to give you a safe, supportive space to help you make sense of what is going on in life.
Working together we can build a trusting relationship where you can feel able to explore your issues and shed light on the difficulties you might be facing. Through the counselling journey we can work together to explore the possibilities and choices you have for change and growth.
I work in an integrative way which just means that I draw on different types of therapy to tailor my approach to what you would like to bring as a client. I believe that there is no single theory that can help in all situations, instead I take the view that every human life is unique and can be explored and understood in many different ways.
I offer a collaborative approach to counselling where we create a therapeutic space together enabling you to explore your inner world without judgement, with empathy, support and compassion. I focus on your agenda and am committed to your wellbeing while we work together.
I work within the standards set out in the BACP ethical framework which you can find here:
What you can expect from me
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centred therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and CBT. Together, we can explore what you would like to work towards and find an approach that feels right for you and your therapeutic goals.
I believe that talking can be a powerful way to make sense of our experiences and work through difficulties. However, sometimes words aren’t quite enough to express how we feel or explore what is going on beneath the surface. For this reason, I also like to incorporate creative approaches such as art, music and sand tray work. These can offer different ways of exploring thoughts, feelings and experiences that may feel too difficult to put into words.
About Counselling
Making the decision to start counselling can be daunting but can make a great positive difference to your quality of life. Having a space to talk and express what your feeling can be deeply healing.
Counselling provides a safe, confidential space for you to talk. A counsellor can help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours to help you better understand yourself and others.
A counsellor won’t give you their opinion or advice instead they work to help you find your own way through your difficulties. By accepting you as you are without judgement and offering empathy and compassion a counsellor can help you to make changes in your life or find healthy ways to cope with difficulties, whatever you decide.
Services and Locations
I work with a range of difficulties that we might all face at some point in our lives. These include bereavement and loss, relationship issues, anxiety and depression, work related issues and stress as well as life transitions such as divorce and retirement. I work with both adults and young people from 12 years upwards.
I work in the Winchester and Southampton area both in person and online
